ARRIVAL IN MALLORCA

Arrival at the Mallorca airport and private transfer to your hotel. Check-in and free time.

At night, you will be treated to a delicious welcome dinner with the best of Mallorca’s local gastronomy. Return to your hotel and overnight.

HERITAGE, MASS TOURISM, AND REGENERATION IN ALCUDIA.

After breakfast, you will depart for Alcudia, a charming town steeped in history. You will make your way to Alcudia town via the scenic beach, taking in the coastal beauty along the way. As luck would have it, it’s market day, and you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant local atmosphere and witness the bustling trade.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to Port d’Alcudia. Here, you’ll learn about the intricate dynamics of mass tourism and its environmental impacts. Examine the challenges and successes of regeneration efforts in this popular tourist hub, gaining insights into sustainable practices and initiatives.

Following dinner, you’ll reconvene at the hotel for group project work, where we’ll reflect on the day’s experiences and delve deeper into our chosen themes. Overnight.

URBAN, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND TOURISM GEOGRAPHY OF PALMA

After breakfast, you’ll head to Central Palma, where you’ll receive a comprehensive introduction to the city’s highlights at Puig de Sant Pere city walls. From there, you’ll delve into the interplay between the urban environment and tourism, examining the fascinating geographical dynamics at play.

The majority of the day will be dedicated to group project work in Central Palma, allowing you to explore the city’s geography firsthand. You’ll analyze how urban development, environmental sustainability, and the impact of tourism converge.

Return to the hotel for group project work, discussing your findings and engaging in meaningful discussions. Overnight.

CONTEMPORARY GEOGRAPHICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN MALLORCA

After breakfast, you’ll head out to practice group project work at selected locations around the island for in-depth research and exploration of contemporary geographical and environmental issues across Mallorca. This immersive experience will provide you with valuable insights into the complex challenges and issues Mallorca faces today.

This day offers a unique opportunity to delve into the pressing geographical and environmental concerns shaping Mallorca’s present and future.

Return to your hotel and overnight.

HOW IS THE LANDSCAPE CHANGING IN RURAL MALLORCA?

Your day begins with a visit to the awe-inspiring Formentor viewpoint, witnessing the transformative landscape changes that have shaped the island. You’ll then explore the rural charm of Sineu, experiencing the evolving traditions of a small town. Continuing your exploration, you will discover the harmonious blend of history and modernity in Arta. You will end the tour with a visit to an Aloe Vera farm near Son Serra de Marina.

Returning to Port d’Alcudia, you will have time for some project work, reflect on your experiences and examine the intricate themes.

Return to your hotel and overnight.

WESTERN MALLORCA RURAL AND LANDSCAPE CHANGE, CULTURAL TOURISM

After breakfast, you’ll depart to Estellencs, a picturesque village nestled in the scenic Western Mountains. Here, you’ll witness firsthand the effects of rural and landscape changes, gaining valuable insights into the evolving character of the region.

Continuing your exploration, you’ll venture to Valldemossa, a town steeped in cultural heritage and significance.

After a day of ludic discoveries and a greater appreciation for the diverse facets of Mallorca’s western mountains, you’ll return to your hotel where you can discuss with your classmates what you’ve learned today. Overnight.

ADIÓS, MALLORCA!

After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and head to the airport to board your flight back home.
